Starting Kids Young

Like I said in my last post I have the privilege of working at a YMCA where I get to work with youth sports. The earliest age kids can start participating is 3 years old and that goes for every sport. One issue is that at this age numbers are very low and I cannot seem to figure out why. I think that the reason is because parents think it is too early for their kids. While I think it is never too early for your kids to be active and start developing skills for sports. Another big thing at this age is getting away from their parents and being on their own this can help them for when you take kids to school for the first time.

Benefits of a YMCA in your community

I work at the YMCA in Grove City and it makes me wish that I had one growing up. These kids have so many options to grow and become healthier individuals. They have skate nights every Friday and Saturday where they can come be active with all of there friends. They have different sports every Saturday morning that I help coach. And they also have an after school program where they can come and whatever they want whether in the gym or in the pool. It is great to see everyday all of these kids being so active.

Thanksgiving Break

My Thanksgiving break started out with me becoming an uncle. This has been a very stressful last couple weeks because there have been complications with the baby but now that she is born everything is great and could not be better. This was the first year that I actually tried to eat a bit more healthy at Thanksgiving dinner than normal. This included less carbs and more vegetables and not getting thirds just seconds. I also was sure to get a workout in on Thanksgiving day. You have to be sure to find a happy medium.

What type are you?

There are many different ways for people to train in the gym and different ones are becoming increasingly more popular. The three main ones are bodybuilding, powerlifting, and crossfit. And which one you do depends on what your goals are what you aspire to look like. Personally I prefer a combination of bodybuilding and powerlifting. I enjoy being able to try and improve my physique while I also like going into the gym and moving heavy weight. List your favorite types and why you enjoy training that way.
